The New English Orchestra (NEO) has been making its own unique contribution to the Salzburg
Music Festival since 1976 and has produced this DVD to celebrate its 30th Anniversary.
As many of its supporters are UK-based and are used to seeing them perform in places such as
The Bridgewater, Symphony and Colston Halls, or cathedrals up and down the land, they have
wanted to know what takes place on the regular tours to Salzburg.
This DVD tells the story of the tour to Salzburg in 2005. It presents a wonderful and faithful
insight into what the NEO is all about as well as providing beautiful photography of this famous
Austrian city. Music abounds in the DVD with performances in famous locations such as the
Residenz palace, the Dom and St Peter’s. Filmed by John Forrest, the DVD provides a unique
perspective on the NEO including interviews with Nigel Swinford, and Father Benedikt from the
ancient St Peter’s church in Salzburg, and narration by Claire Campbell-Smith.
